ABCDEs of skin cancer

I know it's a little bit of a downer... but with the warm weather coming around, it can't hurt to be well informed.

A for Asymmetry - Both halves of a healthy mole usually look the same.

B for Borders - Irregular. The edges of most melanomas aren't smooth - they often have scalloping.

C for Color variaition - Melanomas can have a patchwork color or take on hues like black, gray, red, white or even blue.

D for Diameter - A mole wider than a pencil eraser? Schedule an appointment and get it checked out.

E for Evolving, expanding or enlarging - If anything starts changing quickly have it checked.
